Making History
(This is a song about the ever-growing international movement against corporate globalization and capitalism that was born on the streets of Seattle and has continued in every corner of the globe. From the fights against hydro privatization in South Africa, the G8 in Kananaskis, incredible uprisings in Argentina and demonstrations in Seville, to name but a few, it is clear that the movement is growing stronger. We are still winning! We will make a different history - our history!)
Fires are burning, wheels are turning, there’s a new sense in the air
With everything to live for and only chains to lose, I hope you’ll join me there
People are finding their power, people are raising their voice
If you want to find me come follow the noise, to fight back’s no longer a choice
If you want to find me I’ll be sleeping on the streets of Seattle
Washington’s calling my name
Police force in Prague cannot push us back now
Things are never going to be the same
We’re making history, yeah you and me
Everybody’s confidence is growing
People are opening their eyes
We’re learning that a better world is possible
Time to take back control of our lives
If you want to find me I’ll b sleeping on the streets of Seattle
Washington’s calling my name
Tear gas in Quebec can not choke a movement
Things are never going to be the same
We’re making history, yeah you and me
I’m making a list, of everything we’re out to resist
When this battle is won and our freedom’s begun
None of this shit will exist
Long line ups for welfare cheques, peacekeeping weapons of war
Anorexic Disney girls, McDonalds makes me want to hurl
And sweatshops where everyone’s poor, well, except the CEO’s of course
But I could go on forever
I’ll let you use your imagination, of whose ass you’d like to kick first
If you want to find me I’ll be screaming on the streets of Seattle,
Washington is calling my name
Body bags in Genoa can not intimidate a movement
Things are never going to be the same
We’re making history, won’t you come join me
We’re making history, yeah you and me
